Remember in high school, when the counselor would say some bullshit like, "Find the one thing you're passionate about and do it the best you can."
Justin Kavanagh, taught myself Esperanto, knitting, and how to simulate an election under the single transferable vote system of proportional representation. Along with a million other fascinating things.
But where the fuck does that go on a resume?
When it comes to hobbies and skills, if there's any shred of hope that it might have some kind of professional benefit, Justin is not interested; he leaps from skill to skill, gaining a broader field of knowledge, yet when going into passions and sharing ideas in a job interview, he get blank stares and "Do you have data entry experience?"

job interview, video store
Remember when you were so excited to go into your first job interview? Where was it, a grocery store? A deli? Or, was the the most coveted job available… the video rental store (kids: this was a place that people went before Netflix completely destroyed the industry where people would actually, and get this, drive to a store where they would spend anywhere from $3-$6 to rent a video and then have to drive it back to the store and drop it off before they incurred ridiculously high “late fees”). Why was the video rental store the best? Well, you got access to all fo the coolest things: movies, video games, junk food… everything a teenager covets! Sometimes, you would see that one person in the store that didn’t seem to enjoy their job, and that they could never seem to connect with the customers, their coworkers, or even just do a good job…. Aaaaand here is Justin!

Do you know Esperanto? Are you familiar with the Single Transferable Voting System? Can you say that Janeway is your favorite Star Trek captain? Probably not. In fact, you probably have no idea what those three sentences were at all. That's okay, because this episode's guest, Justin Kavanaugh, knows copious amounts of all of these things!
